Until recently die shop tools were placed on pallets on the ground, which took up a lot of warehouse space. Time was lost through navigating such a space and finding the right tools. So employees warmly welcomed the idea of clearing up the warehouse. "We cleared the whole space, painted the walls, and installed racks," says die shop manager, Andrej Šarmír.
"We've also modified the software to make it easier for the warehouseman to find his way around. Each item will be newly registered in the system, so the warehouseman can see all the rack's rows and columns and easily ascertain what's stored where," he adds.
Poor orientation was time-consuming for employees who came to the warehouse for tools. Now the warehouseman will take such employees directly to required tools. "We're making people's work more efficient. By saving time searching, we can produce more," adds the die shop manager. The warehouse has approximately 1,500 tools. Its modification and renovation cost about EUR 20,000.
